Unnatural Divide
Rory Nolan
Poetry
Temple Carrig School,
Wicklow
Taking our time, down ending forest roads
Along the falling glen-sides, of ice worn years,
Narrow paths breaking bones of rock.
Man made cracks
In Nature’s strength.
Stopping our way, daring us,
A rebel rabbit, thumps hard hind legs,
Angry at the sound made by our car.
Man stands against
Nature’s strength.
Another thump and squelch and silence.
Lying dead we found him,
Dark soulless eye staring.
Poor thing we thought,
And drove on.
Unnatural divide.
